That's The News, and I Am Out of Here...

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the blog is going on a brief hiatus, while I take off on an adventure of my own. I leave tomorrow morning, Friday April 3rd, for Peru, where I'm going to be spending 10 days on the Amazon River and in the Jungle. I'm looking forward to the break, and seeing a part of the world I've never been to before. And when I return on April 12th I hope to have all kinds of great stories, photos, and maybe even some video to share.

In the mean time, you can follow all the developing action on Everest at Alan Arnette's page, and for general information on Everest and the Poles, ExWeb is always a good bet. And don't forget the National Geographic Adventure Blog and the Outside Online Blog as well. Both are excellent sources of news on what is going on in the world of adventure.

Okay... so what did I miss?

Just a quick note to say I'm home safe and sound from the Amazon. I had a fabulous time, and will be sharing photos, stories, and video from the trip soon. It was everything I could hope for and more, with plenty to see and do. The River itself is vast and powerful, and the jungle is thick, dense, and teeming with life.

Now comes the fun part of a vacation when you have to return to reality, and get caught up on all the work that was neglected while you were away. I know of several stories that I need to post on already, and regular updates should hopefully resume later today.

Until then, thanks to everyone who sent me encouraging words while I was away. I promise to share plenty of information on my trip as soon as I get settled and caught up a bit. :)

Top Ten Adventure Twitterers

The Outside Blog, the official blog of Outside Magazine, has released their Top Ten list of Adventure Twitterers, and there are a few names that make the list that you might recognize.

The list is certainly diverse and interesting, with companies like Backcountry.com and REI earning a spot in the Top Ten, as well as individual adventurers like Roz Savage, who is busy preparing for a return to the sea, and climber Steph Davis, who is busy scaling rock faces, and then jumping off them.

The Gear Junkie earns a much deserved spot on the list as well, and our friend Alan Arnette tops the list as the number one adventure twitterer, with is amazing updates on Everest and his own on going climbs.

Look closer on the list, and you might even recognize a certain adventure blogger. Yep, Outside named me the #5 adventure twitterer, and I have to say I'm surprised and honored to be listed with everyone else. My friends will get a great chuckle out of this thanks to my reluctance to try Twitter in the first place. But, I have to admit, I'm a convert, and think it is pretty cool to make this list, despite the fact that my Twitter name makes an obvious reference to how big of a geek I am. ;)
